Tally vs SuryaHub
for solar EPCs.
An honest look at the two. Tally is great for your books. SuryaHub runs the whole solar job — leads to AMC — and connects to Tally. Here is where each one fits.

The short answer.
Tally and SuryaHub do different jobs. Tally is excellent accounting and GST software — the Indian standard, and your accountant already knows it. Keep it for your books.
SuryaHub is not an accounting replacement. It runs the solar operation Tally was never built for — leads, quotes, site work and 25-year AMC — and can push data to Tally through an integration add-on. See the platform or the finance & GST module.

What is Tally, and can it run a solar EPC?
Tally is accounting, GST and inventory software, and it is the standard millions of Indian small businesses use for their books. It can record a solar EPC’s invoices and stock well — but it was never built to run the solar job itself: leads, quotes, surveys, installs, DISCOM steps or AMC. That part needs different software.
So the honest read: Tally is great at what it does, and you can keep it. The solar workflow around it is the gap SuryaHub fills. See how SuryaHub handles finance & GST →
Tally vs SuryaHub, line by line.
An honest, detailed comparison for a solar EPC. They overlap on accounting and stock; they differ on everything to do with the solar job.
- GST invoices (CGST/SGST/IGST)
- Ledgers & books of account Basic
- Ageing & P&L reports Per project
- Lead funnel with follow-up
- Quote from rate cards (two-quote cycle)
- Survey + install photo proof
- Stock (batch / serial) Yes Yes
- PM Surya Ghar / DISCOM / net-metering
- Renewal reminders & service visits
- One record from lead to AMC
- Tally integration n/a Add-on
- Role-based field & sales roles Limited
Where Tally wins
Full credit — Tally is the accounting standard for a reason.
- The accounting standard
Tally is the book-keeping software most Indian SMBs and their CAs already use. Your accountant knows it cold.
- Deep GST & statutory filing
GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, e-invoice, e-way bill and auto-reconciliation are built in and kept current with the law.
- Real books & financial reports
Ledgers, trial balance, balance sheet, P&L and ageing are full-strength — far deeper than SuryaHub’s finance module.
- One-time licence option
A Silver or Gold licence is a one-time buy you own, which suits firms that dislike a monthly bill for their books.
Where SuryaHub wins
The solar job Tally was never built to run.
- It runs the solar job, not just the books
Leads, quotes, surveys, installs and AMC live on one record. Tally was never built for any of that.
- Quote from kW rate cards
The two-quote cycle, BOM and DISCOM steps are built in — not something you rebuild outside Tally each time.
- India solar compliance built in
PM Surya Ghar, net-metering and DISCOM workflows are part of the platform, not a manual side-task.
- The AMC moat
Auto-scheduled visits and 90/60/30-day reminders protect 25-year service revenue Tally has no concept of.
- Photo + GPS field proof
Surveys and a 5-stage install with photo proof keep the field honest. Tally has no field app.
- It connects to Tally
A Tally integration add-on pushes your SuryaHub invoices and data into Tally, so you keep both — books in Tally, the job in SuryaHub.
Can Tally run a solar EPC business?
Tally runs the books of a solar EPC very well, and most EPCs should keep it for that. It records GST invoices, holds your ledgers, files GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and tracks stock. Your accountant already works in it. None of that changes when you add SuryaHub.
What Tally cannot do is run the solar job. It has no lead funnel, no quote built from kW rate cards, no technical survey with photos, no 5-stage install proof, no PM Surya Ghar or DISCOM net-metering steps, and no AMC renewals. Those are built into SuryaHub’s CRM, quotation, government workflows and AMC instead. SuryaHub does have a finance module, but it is basic next to Tally — which is why the two work best together.
Should you keep Tally and add SuryaHub?
For most EPCs, yes. Keep Tally for the books and add SuryaHub for the solar operation. The two are linked by the Tally integration add-on, so you do not key the same data twice. Use each tool for what it is best at:
- Tally: accounting, GST filing, P&L and statutory reports.
- SuryaHub: leads, quotes, surveys, installs and AMC.
- The add-on pushes SuryaHub invoices and data into Tally.
- Your CA keeps working in Tally; your team works in SuryaHub.
SuryaHub does not try to replace Tally’s accounting depth, and it should not. It fills the solar-workflow gap Tally leaves open, then hands the numbers back to Tally for the books.
You don’t have to leave Tally to add SuryaHub.
The Tally integration add-on links the two, so SuryaHub data such as GST invoices flows into Tally and your accountant keeps the books where they always have. Most EPCs are live on SuryaHub in 2 to 4 weeks.
- Go live2–4 weeks
- Tally integration add-on₹40,000 + ₹2,000/mo

Add SuryaHub for…
- ✓Leads, quotes, surveys and installs
- ✓PM Surya Ghar, DISCOM and net-metering

Tally vs SuryaHub — your questions.
Can Tally run a solar EPC business?+
Tally runs the books of a solar EPC very well — GST invoices, ledgers, P&L and statutory filing. But Tally is accounting software, not a CRM or project tool. It does not handle leads, quotes from kW rate cards, site surveys, installs, DISCOM and PM Surya Ghar steps, or AMC renewals. SuryaHub runs that whole solar workflow and can push data to Tally.
Does SuryaHub replace Tally?+
No. SuryaHub is not an accounting replacement. Tally is far deeper for books, GST filing and financial reports. SuryaHub runs the solar operation — leads to quote to site to AMC — and has a Tally integration add-on that pushes invoices and data into Tally. Keep Tally for your books; add SuryaHub for the solar job.
How much does Tally cost in India?+
TallyPrime Silver (single user) is about ₹22,500 one-time or ₹750/month rental; Gold (multi-user) is about ₹67,500 one-time or ₹2,250/month, plus an annual TSS renewal for updates. Prices are indicative and exclude GST. SuryaHub Lite starts at ₹4,500/month, and the Tally integration add-on is ₹40,000 plus ₹2,000/month.
Can SuryaHub connect to Tally?+
Yes. SuryaHub offers a Tally integration as an add-on, priced at ₹40,000 one-time plus ₹2,000/month. It pushes SuryaHub data such as GST invoices into Tally, so your accountant keeps using Tally for the books while your team runs the solar job in SuryaHub.
Why not just use Tally with WhatsApp for a solar EPC?+
Tally plus WhatsApp covers invoices and chat, but nothing connects. The lead, quote, survey, install, payment and AMC live in different places, so data is re-typed and steps slip. SuryaHub keeps all of it on one record and still sends data to Tally for the books.
Do I need both Tally and SuryaHub?+
Many EPCs will keep both. Use Tally for accounting, GST filing and financial reports — it is the standard and your CA knows it. Use SuryaHub to run the solar operation from enquiry to 25-year AMC. The Tally integration add-on links the two so you do not key data twice.
