Comparison

Odoo vs SuryaHub
for solar EPCs.

An honest look at a polished, modular ERP against a solar-native platform — where Odoo is strong, where it falls short for solar, and what it takes to run an Indian EPC on each.

By the SuryaHub team · Updated 18 June 2026

The short answer.

Odoo is a strong, modular ERP with a huge app set and deep customisation. But like other generic ERPs it is not solar-aware: no PM Surya Ghar, no solar quotation or BOM, no solar AMC out of the box. To fit a solar EPC you configure apps, often with a partner.

SuryaHub is solar-native and India-compliant, ready in weeks at a flat price. Pick Odoo if you want a modular ERP and will configure it. Pick SuryaHub for a solar-ready system without the build — see the platform or pricing.

The context

Can Odoo run a solar EPC?

Odoo can cover parts of the job with its apps. But "covering parts" is not the same as being solar-ready. Here is what you get out of the box, and what you still have to build.

Apps fit
CRM, sales, inventory, accounting and field service map to general EPC work
No solar core
no kW pricing, BOM or two-quote cycle as standard
No compliance
no PM Surya Ghar, DISCOM or net-metering workflow built in
No solar AMC
25-year service scheduling and renewals are not part of the box

You can add solar pieces through configuration, app-store modules and a partner — but you assemble and maintain them, and per-app and per-user costs add up. SuryaHub ships the solar workflow as the product. See what is built in →

Where Odoo wins

Let’s be fair — Odoo is a capable ERP.

  • A huge modular app set

CRM, sales, inventory, accounting, projects, field service and more — pick the apps you need and turn off the rest.

  • Polished and well known

Odoo is a mature, widely used ERP with a clean interface and a large global user base.

  • Deep customisation

Configure fields, workflows and reports, or add modules from a big app store. With a developer, it can model almost any process.

  • One vendor for many functions

If you also run manufacturing, e-commerce or HR, you can keep them on the same ERP platform.

Where SuryaHub wins

The things a generic ERP can’t do for solar.

  • Built for solar, not configured into it

kW pricing, BOM, the two-quote cycle, DISCOM and AMC are already in the product — not modules you assemble and maintain.

  • India solar compliance built in

PM Surya Ghar, net-metering, DISCOM paperwork and GST invoices are part of the platform, not a custom build.

  • The AMC moat

Auto-scheduled visits and 90/60/30-day renewal reminders protect 25-year service revenue — generic ERPs have no solar AMC.

  • Flat, predictable pricing

One plan price, not a per-app, per-user bill that climbs as you add functions and seats.

  • Ready in weeks

Solar-native means there is no long configuration project or partner build before you can run a job.

  • Field work with photo + GPS proof

5-stage install and survey forms capture geo-tagged photos at every step, built for site teams on Android.

What does it take to adapt Odoo for an Indian solar EPC?

Odoo starts as a set of general apps. To run a solar EPC, you map your process onto them, then fill the solar gaps. CRM and sales hold leads and quotes, but a kW price, a BOM and the pre-survey and post-survey two-quote cycle are not there — you configure products, templates and rules to mimic them. The field service app can capture site work, but the structured solar survey and the 5-stage install with photo proof at each stage are not standard.

The bigger gap is India compliance. There is no PM Surya Ghar, DISCOM or net-metering workflow, and no solar AMC scheduling or renewal reminders. You add these with configuration, app-store modules, or custom development — usually with an Odoo partner. That work is real, and it costs time and money before you run a single job. SuryaHub ships quotation, government workflows and AMC as the product, so there is nothing to build.

How do the real costs compare?

Odoo is priced per user, and you add the apps and any third-party modules you need. The headline licence is only one part. The real cost for a solar EPC usually includes:

  • Per-user and per-app subscription that climbs as you add seats and functions.
  • Partner fees for configuration and any custom solar modules.
  • Data migration and team training.
  • Ongoing upkeep as your modules and the platform change.

SuryaHub uses one flat plan instead — Lite ₹4,500, Elite ₹14,500 and Pro ₹29,000 per month — so the solar workflow is included, not a build you scope and pay for on top. We do not quote exact Odoo prices here because they depend on your apps, users and partner.

Switching is easy

Move from Odoo in weeks, not months.

SuryaHub imports your existing projects and contacts during onboarding. You keep your old system — nothing is lost. Most EPCs are live in 2 to 4 weeks, with the solar workflow ready to use, not waiting on a configuration project.

  • Go live2–4 weeks
  • Migration (≤150 records)₹25,000
  • Migration (>150 records)₹50,000
  • Lite plan from₹4,500/mo

FAQ

Odoo vs SuryaHub — your questions.

Can Odoo run a solar EPC business in India?+

Odoo can run parts of a solar EPC with apps like CRM, sales, inventory, accounting and field service. But it is not solar-aware out of the box: there is no kW pricing or BOM, no PM Surya Ghar, DISCOM or net-metering workflow, and no solar AMC. To fit a solar EPC you configure apps, often with a partner, and per-app and per-user costs add up. SuryaHub is solar-native and ready in weeks.

Is SuryaHub a good Odoo alternative for solar companies?+

Yes, if you want a solar-ready system without a build. SuryaHub is purpose-built solar EPC software with leads, quotation, survey, installation, finance and 25-year AMC on one record, plus India compliance for PM Surya Ghar, DISCOM, net-metering and GST. Odoo is a flexible modular ERP you configure; SuryaHub is solar out of the box at a flat plan price.

How much does Odoo cost for a solar EPC?+

Odoo is priced per user with paid plans, plus the apps and any third-party modules you add. SuryaHub uses one flat plan — Lite ₹4,500, Elite ₹14,500 and Pro ₹29,000 per month.

Does Odoo have solar features like PM Surya Ghar and AMC?+

Not out of the box. Odoo has no PM Surya Ghar, DISCOM or net-metering workflow, no solar quotation or BOM, and no solar AMC as standard. Some partners and app-store modules add solar pieces, but you assemble and maintain them. SuryaHub ships all of this as part of the product.

When should a solar EPC pick SuryaHub over Odoo?+

Pick Odoo if you want a modular ERP across many functions and are ready to configure it, often with a partner. Pick SuryaHub if you want a solar-ready system without the build: solar quotation, survey, install, finance and AMC, with India compliance, live in 2 to 4 weeks at a flat price.

Can I move my data from Odoo into SuryaHub?+

Yes. SuryaHub imports your existing projects and contacts during onboarding. Migration is ₹25,000 for up to 150 records or ₹50,000 above that, and most EPCs are live in 2 to 4 weeks. You keep your old system; nothing is lost in the move.
